The series “Sitting Still” ironically chronicles a journey, representing the softer side of nature present even in extreme conditions and in places that are hard to find. Painting by Shea Slemmer. Oil on Linen, 30" x 30", 2022
Shea Slemmer grew up barefoot and wild in the rolling horse country of Ocala, FL. Drawing on sensory memories and the "maps and bridges" of her curious childhood, her art reflects the wonder of the everyday. Looking for patterns in nature and using meditative techniques, Slemmer speaks to the child within and formulates protected harbors of communication through painting with oil on canvas.
