Artist Bio

Seth Fite was born in Bolton, England, but spent the majority of his childhood in the midwest learning to sketch alongside his sister under the heavy influence of the American illustrators of the Golden Age. After a time, Fite’s grandfather would urge him to look to the Wyeths for inspiration, which then led to his exploration of classical painting under Beth Schott, guided by the techniques of Rembrant, Velazquez, and master Frank Duveneck. Five years into his studies, Fite pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Illustration from Savannah College of Art and Design, and then apprenticed beneath master painter Odd Nerdum in Norway.

Fite currently paints in various locales across America, though he predominantly works out of his studio-school, The Louisville School of Painting in Kentucky. Using classical realism techniques, he practices portraiture and still life, and is an advocate for painting en plein air.
